The Stubai Valley Railroad
Experience
For almost 90 years, since 1904,
the course of the Stubai Valley Railroad has blended in to
the valley countryside with remarkable harmony. At leas 16
times daily, from 6:46 a.m. (workdays) or 7:20 a.m. (Sundays
and holidays) until 7:40 p.m., the train is underway. From
the Olympic city of Innsbruck heading to Fulpmes and from
rural Fulpmes to the Tyrolean capital. The "cute, little, red
train" freshens up the valley with its lush meadows and forests.
Especially for hikers: every stop is an excellent starting point for
great hiking in the valley, through the forests and even up to the
peaks.
And for those who aren't quite as
adventurous, the ride alone is a relaxing experience. Throughout the
18-km long stretch covering a difference in elevation of 413 m. the
natural setting continually changes offering glimpses of idyllic
Tyrolean villages. An environment-friendly means
of transportation that invites you to take a holiday from your car too.
